Terrier gets head stuck in spare wheel

A dog had a bad day when she got her head stuck in the spare wheel of a car. Tinks, an eight year old terrier, had been running around a stable yard when she decided to put her head through the centre of the wheel.

Her owner promptly called the emergency services upon discovering that she had become stuck at the site in Crondall Road in Church Crookham, Hampshire. On arrival Animal Rescue Specialist Colin Horwood tried to free the dog by manually manipulating her back through the centre of the wheel.

However, Tinks kept tensing herself during the careful procedure not allowing herself to be released. Colin decided to transport the trapped dog to St Kitts Veterinary Surgery in Hartley Wintney. Under sedation by the vet she relaxed enough to be freed from the wheel.

Watch Manager Horwood from Hartley Wintney Fire Station said: “I am pleased to say that Tinks has made a full recovery from her ordeal which lasted an hour and a half. Her owner has since disposed of the spare tyre to reduce the risk of this happening again."
